De Winton Bench – Twin Sentinels of the Prairies
Handcrafted in Alberta, Canada, the De Winton Bench draws its name from the historic hamlet of De Winton – a small rural community in the Foothills south of Calgary, proudly marked by its pair of iconic wooden grain elevators. These twin prairie sentinels, standing side by side along the old rail line, are enduring landmarks that define the skyline and heritage of this tight-knit farming area.
A signature feature of this bench is its two beautiful central pockets – twin "storage bins" thoughtfully placed in the middle for housing your favourite magazines, books, remotes, or everyday reads. Inspired by the dual elevators that once stored the community's grain harvest, these pockets add clever, discreet organization while echoing De Winton's agricultural roots and practical prairie ingenuity.
The frame and base are crafted from luxurious solid African Sapele wood – with its rich reddish-brown tones and striking grain – finished in a deep dark satin sheen (100% zero-VOC for an eco-friendly touch) that radiates warmth and timeless durability. The seat is upholstered in supple brown genuine leather, adhered firmly to the sapele base for a supportive, firm feel. Like your favourite leather jacket, this leather may develop handsome scratches over time, creating a beautifully distressed patina that tells its own story.
