So here’s the whole story...
We met when we were 19, both studying industrial, interior, and graphic design in school. Our shared passion for creativity led us to start a marketing and business development company—a journey that lasted 34 exciting years! Yet, even in those busy years, our hearts always pulled us toward hands-on creativity. We spent countless hours working with wood, clay, fabrics, and acrylics, always exploring new ways to bring ideas to life.
Fortunato’s world has always been about form and function. From sculpting award-winning fine art to designing original furniture, he sees endless possibilities in raw materials. After years of balancing business with his artistic passions, he finally made the full leap, trading a computer for tools and founding Taddei Studios in Okotoks, Alberta. Now, he designs and builds handcrafted benches and furniture, combining beautiful wood, leather, and hides into timeless pieces. His workshop is a space of pure inspiration, where each creation is guided by craftsmanship, vision, and a deep respect for the materials.
“Holding a piece of wood that has taken 50-75 years to grow and shaping it into something that could last just as long is humbling. There’s nothing quick or easy about building from scratch—it requires thought, time, and patience. But in the end, the finished piece is always worth it.” — Fortunato
For me, creativity has always been about color, pattern, and texture. Whether through acrylic fine art painting or spatial design, I’ve always been drawn to bold, dramatic aesthetics. Today, I bring that same love of artistry to Taddei Studios, supporting homeowners, interior designers, and architects by helping bring their visions to life.
Fabric, in particular, has always captured my heart—it’s tangible art that I can shape and transform. As an artist/ painter, I know that not everyone can afford an original canvas, so I set out to create functional art. I carefully select rich, vibrant textiles to design custom lampshades, turning lighting into statement pieces that add warmth and personality to any space.
“Fabric is my way of painting in three dimensions. Every lampshade I create is a blend of color, texture, and light—designed to enhance any interior with a bold, artistic touch.” — Athena
Today, we’ve come full circle—working side by side again in the next chapter of our lives. Each morning, we start with coffee and creative conversations, exchanging ideas on furniture designs, stain colors, hides, leathers, and fabrics. Then, Fort heads to his workshop, and I head to my studio, each bringing our craft to life.
We invite you to explore our work and be part of the story we continue to create, one handcrafted piece at a time.
